Summary of an article from “The Guardian”

On twitter I have access to the daily news from the Guardian but indeed they usually don’t say much about Education. So, when I start to read the page with so many articles that talk about this topic, I found a lot of interesting things, but the reportage that caught my attention was “US teacher offer support for climate change lessons”.

This article talks about the hard times that are having some teachers in USA because of their decision to teach to their students about the climate change, and the needed of protect them by the authorities to keep them teaching about this subject because there is many people in the country that is against the teaching of this topic, believing that the global warming is a lie or that it hasn’t be caused by the human being.

In the article, the journalist says that is a terrible mistake to prohibited the teaching of the global warming or the climate change because we’ll have people in the future that will not know anything about this and will be under-educated unable to do anything to save our planet.

I think that this problem appears because USA hasn’t signed most of the international agreements on environmental protection, causing misinformation into the people of the country

I hope this kind of things never happen in our country because the teachers hasn’t be neutrals on the issues of national and global contingency, they need to teach and express what they thinks.

That’s all, see you next Friday!

  2. Paulina, I agree with you, it is important that teacher work this topic in class, is more, this topic should be integrated into the official curriculum.
For other part, It is obvious that the U.S. does not care about this topic because it is also responsible for 50% of the toxic gas emision on the planet.
    I think this is terrible
    See you Friday :)
